Special Needs Dance - Ages 7 & up: For children with mild to moderate special needs. Curriculum similar to Elementary Dance (outlined above). Promotes interaction with other children. A wonderful way to improve self-confidence and create friendships.
My daughter Cameron was born with physical challenges, most notably hypotonia, or very low muscle tone. Cameron was very delayed in walking and had a lot of trouble with her balance and coordination. Perhaps because of this, Cameron grew up very shy and withdrawn reluctant to take part in activities with kids her age. Cameron loved to dance in the living room at home and in front of our hallway full- length mirror. My older daughters had enjoyed years of dance classes with Leesha Rieder. Thinking dance class would help Cameron maintain the little muscle tone she has and perhaps help with her coordination, Cameron came to Kids On The Move. Honestly I am in awe of the progress she has made! Not only has Leesha and her dance classes has helped Cameron emerge from her quiet timid shell. She has "found" her voice through dance and is making great strides in relating to kids her age. Many friends have said recently that they hardly recognize Cameron. She's just blossomed! Thank you so much, Kids On The Move! You do wonders for kids like Cameron who just need some extra help along the way. ~ Allison R.
We were truly blessed to find Miss Leesha and the Kids On The Move dance program for Bethany . We wanted a program where she would be integrated in with her peers and we have certainly found it with Kids On The Move. Miss Leesha welcomed Bethany with open arms and all the kids in the program are great with her as well. Miss Leesha has worked with us in placing Bethany in the most appropriate class for her skill levels. I feel she is challenged yet is fully able to participate in all of the classes and performances and LOVES doing it. Miss Leesha and all the instructors provide a very positive and non competitive atmosphere for learning. Bethany has not only learned the physical skills of dance but she has also enjoyed the friends she has made while doing it. We thank God for giving us Miss Leesha and Kids On The Move! ~ Cindy A.
Lily has been enrolled in Miss Leesha's class only a short time and loves coming to class each week. Miss Leesha runs a "tight ship" which is great for special needs children. After class our first visit Lily said in the car on the way home "Mom, I had so much fun, when do we go again"? That excitement means everything to a special needs parent, to know your child felt like they "fit in". We appreciate that this program is offered to Lily and feel very welcome and happy to be a part of it. ~ Miki A.
Hannah has been dancing with Leesha for 4 years. Leesha and Julie are warm and loving towards Hannah and encourage her to do her best. Since she started dancing Hannah has become more confident and self expressive and the classes have helped to improve her coordination, balance and rhythm. I could not imagine Hannah going anywhere else for dance. Thank you Kids On The Move for welcoming Hannah into your classes with open arms and encouraging her to do her best. ~ Samantha P.

My daughter Kate is five and every week she can't wait to put on her tap and ballet shoes with Leesha Rieder. This is her second year and she absolutely loves it, most importantly she fits right in.
Kate is like the other kids in the class except she has Down syndrome. It is harder for her to do things like balancing on one foot, but that doesn't stop her from trying. Leesha and her staff are quick to praise Kate's efforts and make her feel good about herself.
As parents, we all know our children are special regardless of the gifts they were born with. Leesha knows how to bring out the individual abilities in each child. She has great patience for all of her students, while going out of her way to encourage everyone to try their best while having fun. ~ Stacey S.
